J. MENDEL - Pre-Fall 2013

      J. Mendel's Pre-Fall collection this year was a 50/50 split between unbelievably elegant and tasteful, and just plain awkward. What pieces that were gorgeous (included here), were incredibly so, and I LOVED them. What pieces that were awkward...there were too many for me. I loved his pre-fall collection last year, and I looked forward to seeing this one as well. The main thing that I looked for was the fur, partly because I just love fur coats, and partly because it was done as fabulously as it was last year. But alas, there was less fur and more of some strange variation of hound's tooth, and off-the-shoulder sleeves. This is not to be said that most of the pieces did not have good accents to them, just that the overall effect was too much of the tacky. I did, however, love the shoes he used in every piece. And most of the fabrics were gorgeous, with each one having a certain shine to them. It's still just not as perfect as I'd like it to be, as is the case with most pre-fall collections this year.
