OSCAR DE LA RENTA - Pre-Fall 2013

Let me start off by saying, I absolutely ADORE Oscar De La Renta. This man can do no wrong in my eyes. His designs are always so classy and princess-y, they're just absolutely stunning, always and forever. His collection for Pre-Fall 2013 was no exception to this. It was a definite mix between mod-60's patterns, a load of 80's silhouettes, and a bit of princess-esque dresses that remind me of the cartoon renditions of fairy-tales that I still have on VHS. (Like always, sigh. I just love him so much.) I absolutely loved the colors and prints used in the clothing. The prints were all very flowery and gorgeous, with just the right mix of retro, and the fabrics were simply beautiful. The color scheme was a very spring-ish mix of greens, yellows, and blues, which I found to be a little unusual, but very refreshing, for a fall collection. And Oscar, in my opinion, did retro the very best out of all the other designers who attempted it this season as well. (Looking at you, Michael Kors.) But all-in-all, albeit not a revolutionary and life-changing collection, it was an effortlessly gorgeous and very well put together one, that didn't follow the trend of pre-fall shows consisting of far too heavy winter coats that are warm for even a trip to the Arctic. Nice job, Oscar.
